( Click Here for Klic-N-Kut Pattern Cutter Instructions )

Shrinking/Enlarging Patterns

  1. Click on the pattern
  2. Go to the graphics select tool (a dotted lined square with a circle overlapping a square). In Acrobat 4.0, this tool is the third down on the left toolbar. In 5.0, it is on the far right on the top toolbar.
  3. Click on this tool. It will then let you make a box. Make a box around the part you would like make larger.
  4. Once you have the box around the desired pieces, go up to the copy button. (This button has two documents overlapping each other.) You can also select Edit from the top menu, then choose copy.
  5. Then go to a word document and click on paste. (This button usually looks like a clipboard with a document overlapping it.) Or choose Edit from the top menu and select paste.
  6. It will paste everything that was in the square. You can then click on this and a box will appear. It will let you enlarge or minimize the pattern.

Instructions for Paper Piecing

  1. Print out pattern on heaviest paper your printer will let you print on. (Thickness just adds durability and ease for tracing.)
  2. Cut out the pattern pieces. (Small scissors work best.)
  3. Take each pattern piece and trace on each color you have chosen to complete your project. If a pattern is a girl and you want a boy, leave off the long hair, pony tail, etc. You can also alter the clothes, props etc. to coincide with your theme.
  4. Place pieces together before gluing to make sure all the pieces fit.
  5. Use chalk around edges before gluing. Glue bangs to face before adding the face. This will let you know where to put the face.
  6. Glue together.
  7. Add lines and details if desired.
  8. You can mount paper-piecing creation on paper to help it stand out.
  9. Put used pattern in an envelope and label it for later use. This will save you the step of cutting it out if you think you might use it again.
  10. You can also enlarge or shrink the pattern on a copy machine and use them on posters, gift bags, and bulletin boards.
  11. Patterned paper is a great way to add color and design to your pattern. It is also fun to use stickers, die-cuts, wire, jute, ribbon, eyelets, velum, dried flowers etc.
  12. If you like the pattern of a little girl sitting, but you don¹t like her outfit, change the outfit. Or change the sitting girl to an outdoor theme by adding a marshmallow roaster, or take off the hair and add a fishing pole to make a little boy fishing!
  13. Paper Piecing is a great way to personalize your pages. You will spend less time searching and paying a fortune for items to fit your page. Now you create your own using these patterns as your scaffolding without leaving the comforts of your home.
