Have you ever use craft foam with Scrapola patterns? You can find this product at many craft stores. This can be a great activity for young children.
You can take some basic patterns (flowers, trees, bees etc.) and create some fun new items. (You can search the archive for easy patterns using the key word "easy" or "simple" and many patterns under 3-4 pieces will appear.)
If your children are not able to cut, you can cut many of these items out ahead of time. Then they can paste these pieces together to create their own creation. (Cardstock works great too.)
You can also print out the patterns on computer paper and let them color them with crayons or markers. Then they can cut the pieces out and glue them together.
Children love to cut and paste, and this would be a lot of fun for them to do a little summer craft to keep them from getting board while school is out.
